Life Cycle Of A Soap Bar
Crafting a soap is a science of balance. Crafting a soap bar that has a beautiful lather, scent, colour, lasts long but is free from: palm oil, animal fats, chemicals, artificial fragrances and colours is an art.
The life cycle of our soap starts in our workshop following the formula developed by us. It involves mixing oils and lye solution to begin a chemical reaction known as saponification. Once these are combined and all additional ingredients are added we pour soap batter into the mould and leave it for 24-48h hours.
The bars then are left to air-dry for approximately 8 weeks. This is known as the curing time, and it will allow for any excess water to evaporate out of the soap. The usual curing time is 4-6 weeks, however we believe that longer curing time provides a better and a longer lasting soap bar.

Although we have done everything possible to make a long lasting bar, once you start using soap it is important to follow a few simple steps so it lasts longer and lathers well:Keep the soap away from water
Nothing will make your soap disintegrate faster than keeping it wet. Water breaks down the consistency of the soap and makes it necessary to replace your soap much more frequently. Avoid storing your soap in a place that is constantly in contact with water, like in the direct stream of the shower.
Let the soap air dry
The more time your soap spends completely dry, the longer it will last. Allowing the air to dry out its moisture will make a bar of soap harder.
Use soap dish with drainage
A wire rack, a bamboo soap dish or a self-draining soap dish. Soap dishes without drainage keep the moisture longer and will make it harder for your soap to dry out in between uses.
Use a washcloth instead of your hands
Skin is less able to produce and retain lather from soap than other materials. If you use a washcloth instead while you are bathing, the whole process will use less soap overall because the washcloth will create more lather and it the suds it creates will go farther in cleaning your body than simply using your hands alone.
Our soaps do not have any dried botanicals that will clog your pipes, nor do these have colours that will stain your bathroom or towels. Without the plastic bottle each soap bar eliminates 50ml of single-use plastic waste. All the packaging is easily recycled with your other paper materials. Good for you, good for the environment.
